As requested, our service team has attended to vessel to carry out main engine pneumatic manoeuvring system O/H with VITA supplied spares while vessel docked at Tersan Shipyard/Yalova/Turkey.
Total 53 pcs components in the pneumatic manoeuvring system overhauled/replaced…
General condition of the pneumatic component found in poor condition. Corrosion observed internal parts of the Pos.33, same replaced with complete valve, the old one of the Pos.33 overhauled and delivered to vessel for emergency use.
As you can see from the pictures there was excessive limestone on the pneumatic valves caused by water in the control air, same cleaned from the valves and tried to blow air line as feasible as possible, however there is always risk of blockage of orifices or similar narrowed access from the same particles coming from the air line.
Used repair kits and valves packed and delivered to ship crew for emergency use in case needed. Upon completing of the job, engine simulation tests completed and found in good order.
Below you can find list of the components overhauled.
Piston units of starting air distributor removed, inspected and cleaned.
Main starting valve and actuator - slow turning valve and acuator ovehauled.
1. General condition of the component indicates that air quality on the control & safety system very poor, recommend maintain good quality control air in the future.
2. Recommend to keep planned
maintenance of the system as per MAN B&W service letter SL01-394.
3. Recommend to carry out regular
check for starting
air distributor as per MAN B&W
service letter SL03-415 to prevent sudden engine starting failure.
4. Recommend carry out reversing cylinder
health check according to guidance prepared
by Vita Engineering.
